More than 120 Girl Scouts, from kindergarten through high school, came together at Camp Runels in Pelham, New Hampshire for the Medford Girl Scout Encampment—a weekend filled with outdoor adventure, creativity, friendship, and fun.
Throughout the weekend, girls at every age level participated in a wide range of activities, including boating, low ropes challenges, archery, shelter making, slime making, knitting and crochet, tie-dye, beaded crafts, obstacle courses, and campfire building. Many of the activities were Scout-led, giving girls the opportunity not only to learn new skills, but also to practice leadership by teaching and encouraging one another.
Some of the most memorable moments happened when everyone came together. The evening included campfire songs and s’mores, followed by a glow-stick dance party—a fun way to end a full day of activities. Some scouts stayed just for the day, while others camped as troops overnight, and some stayed camping overnight for two nights.

Encampment is one of the ways Medford Girl Scouts builds community by bringing scouts of all ages and troops together for a shared experience. For some, it was a chance to return to favorite activities and share traditions. For others, it was an opportunity to try something completely new.
More than anything, Encampment reflects what Girl Scouts is all about: giving girls opportunities to explore, build confidence, develop new skills, make friends, and lead. At the end of the weekend, some troops had leftover food that they decided to donate to our local community pantries. Demonstaring our value to support our community and use resources wisely.

Whether it is a kindergartner trying camp for the first time, an elementary-age Scout learning a new outdoor skill, or an older Scout helping lead an activity, experiences like Encampment give girls the chance to grow while being part of a supportive community.
